Many of the arts related events that Benicia hosted were greatly affected by the pandemic. Wanting to re-energize the art scene, the Benicia Art Galleries created a bold new event, Experience Benicia arts! The event pair the galleries, visual arts and artists with Benicia’s thriving performing arts scene.

Throughout the weekend, 13 galleries spanning Downtown Benicia to Arts Benicia in the historic Arsenal will present a wide variety of exhibitions. Attendees can expect to witness live demonstrations by local artists, captivating exhibitions, and a chance to engage with talented artists.

Adding to the vibrant atmosphere, street musicians will be performing at the State Capitol Lawn, St. Paul’s Square, and in front of The Tannery Building and
other places throughout the event, filling the air with sound.

A mashup, or pairing of two disparate arts, sculpture and dance, slam poetry and painting, music and ceramics, which are thought provoking as well as entertaining. Each gallery will host a performance, dance, music or poetry performed in refection the gallery of a single piece within the gallery.
